Nikon Z9 Firmware – Nikon just released firmware update version 1.11 for the Nikon Z9 mirrorless camera:

This software update program is for the customer-owned product listed above (the “affected product”), and is provided only on acceptance of the agreement listed below. • This service supplies software that can be used to update the Z 9 camera “C” firmware to version 1.11. Use Firmware version in the SETUP MENU to check the camera firmware version before proceeding. Changes from “C” Nikon Z9 Firmware Version 1.10 to 1.11
- Fixed an issue that prevented the camera focusing on detected subjects during video recording with all the following chosen in the VIDEO RECORDING MENU:
- – Image area > Choose image area: DX
- – AF-area mode: Any of Wide-area AF (S), Wide-area AF (L), Subject-tracking AF, and Auto-area AF
- – AF subject detection options > Subject detection: Any option other than Subject detection off
- • Fixed typos in the names of some items in Group a (Focus) of the CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU in some languages.
- • Fixed an issue that would in rare cases cause horizontal stripes to appear in a circle in the center of pictures taken with a Z TELECONVERTER TC-1.4x or Z TELECONVERTER TC-2.0x attached to a NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S lens and an option other than Off selected for Vignette control in the PHOTO SHOOTING MENU.
- • Added support for NIKKOR Z 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S lenses (from “C” firmware version 1.10).
- • Fixed the following issues (from “C” firmware version 1.10):
- – Using menu items that offer only ON and OFF options would sometimes corrupt the menu display when a lens that supported Custom Setting a14 (Manual focus ring in AF mode) in the CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU was attached.
- – The colors in HLG or N-Log would not be correctly adjusted for display in the viewfinder when ON was selected for Custom Setting g8 (View assist) in the CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU.

Nikon Z9 Firmware – Viewing the Camera Firmware Version
- Turn the camera on.
- Press the camera MENU button and select Firmware version in the SETUP MENU to display the camera firmware version.
- Check the camera firmware version.
- Turn the camera off.

Updating the Nikon Z9 Camera Firmware Camera
- Create a folder on the computer hard disk and name it as desired.
- Download F-Z9-V111W.exe to the folder created in Step 1.
- Run F-Z9-V111W.exe to extract the following file to a folder named “Z9Update”:
• Z_9_0111.bin (the camera firmware) - Using a card reader, copy “Z_9_0111.bin” to a memory card that has been formatted in the camera.
Note: Be sure to copy the firmware to the root (top-most) directory of the memory card. The camera will not recognize the new firmware if it is placed in a folder under the root directory. - Insert the memory card into Slot 1 on the camera and turn the camera on.
- Select Firmware version in the SETUP MENU and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the firmware update.
- Once the update is complete, turn the camera off and remove the memory card.
- Confirm that the firmware has been updated to the new version.

End User License Agreement
This Nikon License Agreement (“Agreement“) is a legal agreement between you (either an individual or single entity) and Nikon Corporation (“Nikon“) setting forth the terms and conditions for your use of the Nikon software accompanying this Agreement which includes computer software (including, but not limited to firmware and computer program) for the above product (“SOFTWARE“).
By clicking “Begin download” button after checking “I agree” checkbox on this page in order to start downloading the SOFTWARE, you indicate your acceptance of this Agreement and are agreeing to be bound by the terms of this Agreement. If you do not agree to the terms of this Agreement, you are not authorized to download the SOFTWARE.
This license is not a sale of the SOFTWARE and you do not become the owner of the SOFTWARE through your purchase of any product, download and/or use. Nikon and/or Nikon’s licensors retain ownership of the SOFTWARE and all copies thereof and all related intellectual property rights, and reserves all rights not expressly granted to you under this Agreement. This Agreement constitutes the complete and exclusive agreement, oral or written, between you and Nikon or any associated company of Nikon relating to the SOFTWARE.
1. GRANT OF LICENSE
Nikon hereby grants to you a non-exclusive, non-sublicensable, perpetual (subject to the provisions of Sections 1 and 3) license to:
a) Copy the SOFTWARE on one (1) of your own computer and/or storage medium for the purpose of installing the SOFTWARE for the above product;
b) Install the SOFTWARE in accordance with the setup on this web site and use the SOFTWARE for the above product; and
c) Make one (1) copy of the SOFTWARE in machine readable form solely for back-up purposes.
You may not use the SOFTWARE in connection with multiple systems, networks, servers, or emulations on a main frame or mini computer, provided that you may use the SOFTWARE on a single computer that is connected to a network or server so long as the SOFTWARE cannot be accessed by other computers via such network or server.
The SOFTWARE is protected by Japanese copyright law and international copyright laws and treaties. You must reproduce on each copy the Nikon copyright notice and any other proprietary legends that were on the original.
2. RESTRICTIONS
Except as otherwise stated in this Agreement, you may not make or distribute copies of the SOFTWARE to others or electronically transfer the SOFTWARE from one computer to another over a network. The SOFTWARE contains trade secrets, and in order to protect them, you may not decompile, reverse engineer, disassemble or otherwise reduce the SOFTWARE to a human-perceivable form, except as may be permitted by law. YOU MAY NOT ALTER OR REMOVE ANY COPYRIGHT, TRADEMARK OR OTHER PROTECTIVE NOTICES CONTAINED IN THE SOFTWARE. YOU MAY NOT ASSIGN OR OTHERWISE DISPOSE OF, MODIFY, ADAPT, TRANSLATE, RENT, LEASE, LOAN, RESELL, DISTRIBUTE, NETWORK, OR CREATE OR HAVE CREATED DERIVATIVE WORKS BASED UPON THE SOFTWARE OR ANY PART THEREOF.
3. TERM
The license granted herein is effective until terminated. The license to the SOFTWARE will terminate automatically without notice from Nikon if you fail to comply with any provisions of this license. Upon termination, you must destroy the SOFTWARE and all copies thereof immediately. You may terminate this license at any time by destroying the SOFTWARE and all copies thereof.
4. SUPPORT
No support services, including, but not limited to repair or replacement of and acceptance of any inquiry whatsoever by any means about the SOFTWARE, is provided by Nikon, its employees, distributors, dealers and agents.
5. FOREIGN EXPORT
You agree and certify that neither the SOFTWARE nor any related technical data is being or will be shipped, transferred or re-exported, directly or indirectly, into any country in violation of any applicable laws or regulations of the United States or the country in which it was obtained.
6. LIMITED WARRANTY AND DISCLAIMER
a) TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW, THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, AND NIKON, ITS EMPLOYEES, DISTRIBUTORS, DEALERS AND AGENTS SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIM ANY WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW, NIKON, ITS EMPLOYEES, DISTRIBUTORS, DEALERS, AND AGENTS DO NOT WARRANT THE PERFORMANCE OF OR THE RESULTS YOU MAY OBTAIN FROM THE SOFTWARE, OR THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS OR THAT THE OPERATION OF THE SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW, NEITHER NIKON, NOR ITS EMPLOYEES, DISTRIBUTORS, DEALERS OR AGENTS SHALL BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES, LOSSES OR, EXPENSES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER LOSS OF PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, OR OTHERWISE ARISING OUT OF OR RESULTING FROM THE SOFTWARE, HOWEVER CAUSED, EVEN IF NIKON, ITS EMPLOYEES, DISTRIBUTORS, DEALERS OR AGENTS HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, LOSSES, OR EXPENSES. THIS DISCLAIMER CONSTITUTES AN ESSENTIAL PART OF THIS AGREEMENT AND NO USE OF THE SOFTWARE IS AUTHORIZED EXCEPT UNDER THIS DISCLAIMER.
b) UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES AND UNDER NO LEGAL THEORY, TORT, CONTRACT OR OTHERWISE, SHALL NIKON NOR ANY OF ITS EMPLOYEES, DISTRIBUTORS, DEALERS OR AGENTS HAVE LIABILITY OR RESPONSIBILITY OF ANY KIND (INCLUDING LIABILITY FOR NEGLIGENCE) TO YOU OR ANY OTHER PERSON OR ENTITY WITH RESPECT TO ANY LIABILITY, LOSS OR DAMAGE (INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF GOODWILL, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, COMPUTER FAILURE OR MALFUNCTION, OR ANY AND ALL OTHER COMMERCIAL DAMAGES OR LOSSES) CAUSED OR ALLEGED TO HAVE BEEN CAUSED, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, BY THE SOFTWARE LICENSED OR FURNISHED BY NIKON OR ANY OF ITS EMPLOYEES, DISTRIBUTORS, DEALERS OR AGENTS, TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW. YOUR STATUTORY RIGHTS ARE NOT AFFECTED BY THIS AGREEMENT.
c) Nikon hereby reserves the right to modify, adapt, translate or improve the SOFTWARE at any time.
7. U.S. GOVERNMENT RESTRICTED RIGHTS
The SOFTWARE and electronic documentation are provided with RESTRICTED RIGHTS. Use, duplication, or disclosure by the U.S. Government is subject to restrictions as set forth in DFARS 252.227-7013 or subparagraphs (c) (1) and (2) of the Commercial Computer Software Restricted Rights at 48 CFR 52.227-19, as applicable. Manufacturer is: Nikon Corporation, Shinagawa Intercity Tower C, 2-15-3, Konan, Minato-ku, Tokyo 108-6290, Japan.
8. GENERAL
This Agreement is governed by and shall be construed in accordance with the laws of Japan without regard to its conflicts of laws principles. In the event a dispute arises under or in connection with this Agreement, you hereby consent to personal jurisdiction of Japan and waive any objection that such forum is inconvenient. You further consent to service of process in any action arising from this Agreement by regular mail or other commercially reasonable means of receipted delivery.
If any provision of the Agreement shall be determined invalid for any reason, the remaining provisions shall not be invalidated and shall remain in full force and effect. This Agreement sets forth the entire agreement and understanding between you and Nikon, and supersedes and replaces any other agreements relating to the subject matter of this Agreement.
The failure of any party to insist upon strict performance of any of the terms or provisions of this Agreement, or the exercise of any option, right or remedy contained herein, shall not be construed as a waiver of any future application of such term, provision, option, right or remedy, and such term, provision, option, right or remedy shall continue and remain in full force and effect.
The headings of the sections of this Agreement are inserted for convenience only and shall not constitute a part hereof or affect in any way the meaning or interpretation of this Agreement.
Except as otherwise expressly provided herein, the provisions of Sections 2, 3 (third sentence only), 5, 6, 7 and 8 together with any provisions that by their express terms apply to periods after termination of this Agreement, shall survive termination of this Agreement for any reason.
